Introduction to AI Auto Match
Quality automatic matching of candidates to jobs is desired in the Staffing & Recruiting industry.
If you do it well you greatly increase your submission speed, increase client/candidate satisfaction, while reducing required recruiter effort at the start of the recruitment process.
Traditional matching looks at a candidates CV/Resume data to match against job description/requirement data.
A complex ontological structure is used to try to match various combinations of words/phrases on both sides of the equation.
BHA Semantic Job Match approaches matching different.
A self improving machine learning based technology creates matches from a base set of candidate and job data points. Clients can add additional matching criteria.
The results of the match can be dynamically displayed to candidates in emails or text messages and feedback/interaction with the provided matches improves the quality of future matches.
AI Auto Match extends the functionality by allowing matches to be triggered and customized by a job based automation trigger. AI Auto Match also allows for a notification, message to the candidate, or a submission to be created automatically.
This extended functionality allows for incredible customization and the rest of this guide will show you how to do this.
I should also mention that AI Auto Match is available only in the Automation Enterprise Edition (along with the Chatbot, webhooks, and other advanced features).
AI Auto Match Start
Start with a job based automation.
AI Auto Match is a step is a job based automation.
A Job based automation allows us to apply job based list criteria to control which jobs enter the automation (this will be really important later).
The AI Auto Match Step looks like this
You control the number of matches returned.
Only matches above a certain match percentage AND within X amount of miles/km from the job address.
Only matches that appear on a candidate list (this becomes important later).
You can allow re-entry to give yourself an opportunity for more matches later (you can also ensure candidates already matched don’t get matched again).
The last setting allows you to create a submission automatically with the matches with a configured submission status (this can trigger a whole automated communication strategy - I explained that in depth in this newsletter).
Customizing Jobs to Auto Match
Since the AI Auto Match is accessed in a job based automation that means any job based list criteria can be applied to ensure only jobs that match your criteria will enter the automation and thus be AI Auto Matched.
Like:
Only jobs with X salary/pay rate
Category Y
Skill Requirements: U,O,T
Etc
Customizing Candidates to AI Auto Match
In the AI Auto Match settings we also have the ability to only match candidates that appear on a list of our choosing. We can apply candidate list criteria to ensure only candidates that match would get returned.
Like:
Status of Available
Desire Pay rate/Salary of X
Category Y
Skills: U,O,T
Etc
The Power of Combining Job + Candidate Customization
If we combine both of those together - job list criteria AND candidate list criteria we can create our own customized matching logic underneath the AI Auto Match.
A structured matching logic that only matches candidates that match the list we created to jobs from a list we created.
Job and candidates share important data structure (salary, category, skills, etc) which opens up a lot of possibilities.
Optimally using custom fields on your candidate and job entity can increase those possibilities further.
I would create custom AI Auto Match automations for any recurring types of job orders.
Real Example From My Staffing Experience
This is a real world example of what this could look like.
I pulled this from my past Staffing & Recruiting experience but I want to emphasize that this can be done for all types of recruitment at all levels.

Just how you set it up will slightly differ.
